Joaquín Rodrigo Vidre, 1st Marquis of the Gardens of Aranjuez born in Valencia was almost completely blind before he was three years old, from diptheria. He was a virtuoso pianist, never learnt how to play the guitar, yet this piece is possibly one of the most famous guitar pieces by a Spanish composer. It was written in 1939.
