Great hard-knock folk-blues queen of the early-‘60s Greenwich Village scene. Much admired by the young Bob Dylan (with whom she sometimes performed), Nick Cave, Devendra Banhart. Brought down by drink and drugs; died 1993. Two studio albums and a number of other recordings live on.
