Released in January 1977, the song was written about a DJ at a Miami, Florida radio station called Robert W. Walker, who was the first to give KC their first hit single "Get Down Tonight" airplay. (KC is from Florida)
Boogie Man hit #1 in both the USA and Canada.
I love how we get to see and hear Harry Wayne Casey (KC) before the song, love it! I remember this song when it came out (I was in 7th grade!!). In fact Mercer Island had the first Disco in the Northwest called "Tonight's The Night" or "TTN", with a lighted floor and everything, including KC. We had school dances there, it was a (short lived) sensation. As we grew up we transitioned to New Wave over at Skoochies in Seattle. But that's for another post. Enjoy KC and Sunshine Band!!
