(early 1977) We are still in the land of soprano synth with reverb, a la Tangerine Dream, Jarre, etc. Still, there's a clipped, rippy baritone they stick with for the rest of the album -- copyright restrictions keep me from posting later tracks from TEE. It's menacing and spare underneath, and if it were 20-30 bpm faster everything from the alto register down would be a fine techno loop. From 1:08 to 1:40 the soprano cuts out.
Kraftwerk will jettison soprano reverb entirely by the time they record Computerwelt.
An apocryphal Wpedia story claims that for a while there, Ian Curtis insisted on playing TEE for the hour before Joy Division went onstage.
