Drinking the wrong Chianti and listening to Leonard Cohen in Lucca
I"m sitting in a little bakery in Yaffa listening to Leonard Cohen and thinking of the first time I heard this song in the middle of the 2006 conflict in Lebanon while sitting on the beach in Beirut. Still as haunting as ever.
If all you've ever heard of Leonard Cohen are the (way too many) versions of Hallelujah, you owe it to yourself to listen to Songs from a Room.
"Le vent souffle sur les tombes/la liberté reviendra"
"I was cautioned to surrender, this I could not do"
