The best band ever to come out of Birmingham? At the risk of upsetting Simon le Bon (and not just because Bob Catley's hair was both bigger and bleached blonder than his), that could well be Magnum. Growing up as I did in the West Midlands in the 1980s, it was compulsory to be a fan. And I was. Vigilante was my favourite Magnum song, even if I was never quite clear why Bob had need of one. Maybe he was scared somebody might try to steal his outrageously dodgy red leather jacket, as worn in this live performance.
