Since my eternal jam is Marc-André Hamelin's rendition of Un Sospiro, I thought I'd include another of his works. Turns out he made this gem of undiluted insanity. "Circus Galop" is widely considered the first black midi, or unplayable song. In essence, black midis can not be played by one person. Heck, there is no evidence that a group has ever been assembled to perform this piece. Only player pianos and computer programs can play black midi. Even then, the program tends to falter, lag, or even crash the whole CPU! Out of all the pieces I've heard, only "Circus Galop" maintains a sense of artistry. Other pieces sound too planned, too electrical. "Circus Galop" just takes off and doesn't halt until the ride comes to a full and complete stop.
