everyone's abuzz about benji. that one song making the rounds about his mom reminded me of this older one. no one ever talks about it. when you're in the right mindset, it's devastating. i listened to it a lot the first year i was in college, thinking all the time for some reason about visiting my grandfather for most of my high school years and spending so much time with him, and then how it all vanished abruptly. most of the stuff i wrote the last year in high school was really about him, and visiting him, and this sort of pain ("sundays and holidays" had been on rotation a lot the year prior).
