A bit of pure Country & Western...actually Western. As well as listening to Little Richard & Fats Domino, etc. I grew up listening to Marty Robbins; my Mum loved him. Where Johnny Cash was known as The Man in Black, Robbins was more The Man in Blue, often wearing really dark blue shirts and denims. On the the album cover he appears to be in black but it's actually dark blue too. I guess it was his thing. Sadly he died before he was sixty as so many do.
"Big Iron" is a ballad by Marty Robbins, originally released as an album track on Gunfighter Ballads and Trail Songs in September 1959, then as a single in February 1960.The album is reputed to be "The single most influential album of Western songs in post-World War II American music". That was according to All Music magazine. #Classic50s (just about) #HopeYouLikeIt 8
