I'm not overly impressed with Mary's last album "Songs From The Movie". It's pleasant but not an essential album, being orchestral reworkings of older material. It opens with this song which was also the song that opened her set at the Royal Albert Hall with the London Concert Orchestra behind her. What a fantastic transformation! Live the album (played more or less in the correct sequence) is a magnificent experience. It's one I'll remember for a long, long time. So in the absence of a live orchestral version here is the beautiful original. "You can change a stranger's life by letting yours begin".
Saying goodbye to my sailor boy for, possibly, months. Playing most melancholy thing I can find.
Beautiful song. Beautiful voice.
