I’ve just re-discovered Mastodon. I've heard them before and I think I was a bit bit put off by their overall style, too ‘baroque-ish’ to my liking, that is, until ‘Crack the Skye’ (youtu.be/fcvdkw6v3fE). The following ‘The Hunter’ (youtu.be/Acna6jcCU28) — I liked much more, and with ‘Once More ‘Round the Sun’ they’ve definitely got it right, as far as I’m concerned. What Brann Dailor, Mastodon’s drummer and the lead vocals on this track, said about the album as a whole:"…massive and insane, lots of epic greatness (…) lots of huge riffs and new directions. It's real weird, real math-y, real straightforward. It's up, down and all around." sums The Motherload quite right. Some heavy-octane fuel for the week.

Tremendous band with a sense of humor. The vid reminds me of bizarre 90s tropes meets modern hip hop.
This makes me want to fuck dragons.
