Muddy Waters was first recorded at the Stovall Plantation in Mississippi by Alan Lomax and John Work for Nashville's Fisk University and the Library of Congress. Lomax was primarily in charge of the recording equipment while Work interviewed the performers, so it was on 31st August 1941 that John Work wrote in his note book the name of the first song performed by a young McKinley Morganfield who called himself Muddy Waters as "Country Blues", Alan Lomax recorded the name as "I Feel Like Going Home" in his notes and that was the name of the song that Muddy recorded several times later in his career, but somehow the name on this first recording was "Country Blues"......   19
