I just listened to the original version of this song. The magic mandolin has somehow made a really bad pop song into something great. Well done, folks.
Heard this on KCRW yesterday - was surprised to learn it's from Nickel Creek (it does not sound rootsy). I thought it might be tuneyards. That struck someone else, because that was the next artist they played.
It's a cover of a song by Mother Mother, who for reasons obscure to me are apparently "Canada's second most hated band" (after Nickelback, bien sur).
