Heard this recently and it's been stuck in my head ever since. I kind of forgot about this album and how good it is. I love the simple drum + tambourine (?) in the quiet sections.

I remember seeing this performance on the VMAs in 1999. Up until this point, NIN had been a band I liked. But Downward Spiral was released in 1994 (I was 8 at the time), and seemed like an entire lifetime ago. When I saw Trent take the stage though, I remember being swept away by the performance. Finally, this music was real.
