Chasing Yesterday, the second album from the mighty Noel Gallagher and his High Flying Birds, has been on a constant spin for me this week. Moving away from the lost Oasis B-Side vibe that ever so slightly marred the last album, each track on Chasing Yesterday arrives fully embellished and multi-layered, with a wide array of pianos and violins adding texture to some of the best guitar work and songwriting of Noel's decorated career. The stand out however is the breathtakingly brilliant Dying of the Light, which wouldn't seem out of place on either Definitely Maybe or Morning Glory, it's that good. Nearly twenty years after 'Supersonic,' the Chief still has it. Can't wait for the new album.
