should i go the length of a river (is in my head today)
just saw all over me for the first time (shameful, shoulda seen it the year it came out--heart would've exploded). truth is i have been a young and confused person drunkenly sob-dancing alone to it, that song in particular, before, so yeah...that scene. and i've shared patti smith records in the art-lined bedrooms of best girl friends too, so intimate it came close to embarrassing. so much feeling. and everything else, every little detail in that movie, from the oversize oxford shirts and postal shorts to the lanky hair to both finding your mother's femininity silly/repellent and simultaneously looking to her for guidance or protection in small moments. just everything. jeez louise. oh girlhood.
