“Amazing song from a pretty obscure band, not sure they did much other than this. Reminds me of a slower version of Ace's "How Long." Great sound though.”

1970s. We're an adaptable lot, us human beans, are we not? I'm between 52 & 54 and for me, the 70s was simply THE most phenomenal decade for music. What about the bands? If you'd just emerged from the psych late 60s, you wandered into prog. If you pursued classic/soft rock, you were confronted by punk, mid-decade. If you were disco, by the end of the decade, your boat had pretty much left the harbour. All we mere mortals had to do, was...adapt. I'm often surprised how easily I managed that. Even from a purely sensory viewpoint, all of these genres require a different mindset, so to cross between them seamlessly, is quite remarkable. To me anyway. Like all Jammers, there are times that I cringe at tracks or bands that I liked. Soft rock though, has always retained a wee spot in my musical affections. Player did the square root of bugger all worthy of note, with the sole exception of this belter. One Hit Wonder or not, it remains one of my favourite 70 'softies'. Bet y'all know it...

Current earworm and a damned fine tune to boot! ;-)
Although 'Player' didn't have much success in England in the 1970's, they had mediocre success in the States, having three or four enter the US. Billboard charts top forty. Then came the most successful and their only number one record 'Baby come back'.
