One of the more overlooked albums in R.E.M.'s vast and exceptional back catalogue, 'Fables Of The Reconstruction' was released 30 years ago today. It was their third album, and the only one they ever recorded outside of the US, right here in Britain, and it showed a darker and more politically aware side to the band that would be developed through the '80s and into their career highlights of the early '90s. And 'Driver 8' is an absolute tune!
And the train conductor says "Take a break Driver 8, Driver 8 take a break We can reach our destination, but we're still a ways away"
I knew only couple of most known songs from this band,but after this vacation I decided to research them more and I am glad I did.Their album was on repeat at the hotel lobby,whenever I went there.
