I'll stay in the russian theme this week, though in a completely different style. The Red Elvises are base in the us but are russians (except for the drummer I think. They borrow from surf music, rockabilly and classic rock, often in a volontarily cheesy way. Their shtick is to play like an underground band from behind the iron curtain would play western music with very limited access to it. Another peculiarity is the use of a gian balalaïka instead of a bass. They went to appear in a few movies. Most notably Six String Samurai on which they they often play the soundtrack (sometimes on screen). Anyway, they're fun and the the music is far from bad.   1
