On the Simpsons last night, Homer pretended to be a telephone call queueing system by singing Wichita Lineman and a bit of MacArthur Park. My wife did not believe me when I sang along. "No way is that a proper song; the lyrics are ridiculous!" she declared. "All the sweet, green icing flowing down...Someone left the cake out in the rain. I don't think that I can take it, because it took so long to bake it, and I'll never have that recipe again, oh no!". So I found it online, and - if you can get past the 1st few verse-choruses, you may hear influences for Live and Let Die and the pa-pa-pa cinema advert tune for Pearl and Dean...and loads more! Shot actually in MacArthur Park, Los Angeles early one May morning whilst on holiday in 2007. One of the classics. Now where is my cake ?
