In the film the song was given to Madonna as Evita, but it's much more poignant when sung by the one who is displaced by her. She knew the day would come when she would be cast out for a newer model, and that day has come. It really doesn't fit Evita's character. It does fit as a view of the rubble of some lives she left in her wake.”
