I remember hearing this song by Sarah Vaughan for the first time. At the time I’d been quite regularly working all night (uni years) and listening simultaneously to BBC4 and random music. This appeared at the same time as the morning Shipping forecast (the 5:20 one, quite hypnotic by itself) and stopped time, movement, mood — everything — in its half sad, half hopeful beauty.
