I don't remember the story exactly but someone introduced me to Semisonic when I was in grad school in South Carolina in the 90s. While this band has other songs more popular than this one (aka "Closing Time"), this one remains my favorite. This is probably what The Beatles would have sounded like had they been playing through to the 1990s.
