As an interesting side note despite being popularised recently by the film Midnight in Paris, Bechet had a lot of trouble there getting in fights and being banned from popular establishments. Bechet's violent temper apparently led to a woman being shot after he challenged someone to a duel for accusing him of playing a wrong chord.
From Midnight in Paris, a wonderful Woody Allen film with such a rich, dreamy soundtrack.
