Kim Gordon's memoir, "Girl in a Band," comes out this week. Sharing clip from one of my favorite Sonic Youth jams to celebrate. I can't wait to tear into that book, even though I know it will, in turn, tear me to shreds. Worth noting: This clip is captured near the end of SY's time together. Compare the band's (particularly Kim and Thurston's) interactions here vs. this incendiary clip of them playing "Kool Thing" in '93: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tIkGohO_-QE. A tale of heartbreak played out on stage in subtle and not-so-subtle ways.
