“Back in 2000 I was at Butlins in Minehead for the first All Tomorrows Parties Festival. It had been a great weekend and I was really looking forward to seeing one of my favourite bands Sonic Youth for the first time as they were headlining the Sunday night. What a disappointment they were. Thankfully I saw them a couple more times when they were excellent.”

Who better than Sonic Youth for unorthodox Thursday!?! A band influenced by none other than William S Burroughs, a fave author of theCapns! And the song pays homage to Karen Carpenter mingling with dead rock stars...yeppers, ya gotta love Sonic Youth!

You will always be missed, Karen Carpenter.
"Dreaming, dreaming of how it's supposed to be
But now this tunic's spinning - around my arms and knees
I feel like I'm disappearing - getting smaller every day
But when I open my mouth to sing - I'm bigger in every way..."
The supremely gifted Karen Carpenter would have been 65 today.
Not many bands could even consider attempting a track like this and it might so easily have been utterly tasteless/crass, but Kim Gordon & Co pull this off with huge sangfroid and IMHO highly respectful of anyone who has had to deal with eating disorders.
Six-and-a-half minutes very well spent.
