Seeing Stars tomorrow night; this is probably my favourite song of theirs.
Also happened to be 'our' song for an ex and me – not for any particular reason other than she and I both loved it and were both pretty much the first person the other had met that also knew and/or liked Stars.
As with a lot of relationships, at the start there were a lot of very late nights that turned into very early mornings just spent in each other's company talking and listening to music for hours on end; this album in particular will forever be (fondly) associated with those countless hours, huddled together watching the day break. Same for For Emma, Forever Ago, as it happens. Looking back, it does seem quite an amusing choice for 'that' kind of song. Not that these things are ever wilful or conscious decisions. Anyway, I still love it.

I can hardly believe I forgot about this band. I first saw them in 2003 with Jason Collett and Broken Social Scene at The Powerplant. Pretty sure I've seen Jason every time he's come to Edmonton since then...I can't believe I missed the last Stars show. Memories.
listen, the birds sing! listen, the bells ring! all the living are dead, and the dead are all living, the war is over and we are beginning
here it comes! here comes the first day!
