'60s Jefferson Airplane: counterculture, paeans to LSD and appearing at Woodstock. '80s (Jefferson) Starship: mullets, corporate rock and soundtracks to '80s cheese-fests. And yet ... it's just so hard to hate this song.
This song is the epitome of 80s power ballad cheese. One of those songs that I loved as a kid (still have the 7" single) and can happily sing along to. This may not be Grace Slick's best song but it was the start of my love for her voice.
Introduced by #Habs coach Jacques Demers during the 1992-93 season to build up a team spirit by playing this tune before practicing it finally worked out fine - even though this song had driven some of the players nuts (as then assistant captain Mike Keane recalls): the Habs set up a new NHL record by 10 OT-wins in the post-season and they beat Wayne Gretzky's favored L.A.
