Visiting the family in M!ch!gan! Feels kind of like this.
How I wish Sufjan Stevens would resume his "Fifty States Project"--gimmick or not, "Michigan" and "Illinois" are two of the best albums from the past 15 years...and I know that my home state of South Carolina could yield a lot of rich material!
I picked this song for 2 reasons: 1) I figured the city of Detroit needed a little pick-me-up and if you can't do anything financially or through voting in politicians who know what the heck they're doing, then do it through song! 2) In honor of the 10th anniversary of the album this song is from ("Greetings from Michigan, the Great Lakes State" or just "Michigan"), one of my all time favorites not the least of which is because every song is about my home state and is totally worth checking out even if you're not from Michigan and this song features a tiny toy piano. #Tinypiano
