Wow, 'In C' is 50 years old today, that's amazing. All hail Terry Riley - this piece really expanded my idea of minimalism (it was this, Donald Judd, and Susan Sontag's 'Beyond Interpretation' really). Some of his less popular late-70s work also sounds like a more atmospheric Popul Vuh to me too, well worth checking out.

This is one of my favorite pieces - strange, but wonderful, and never the same twice. I also love how this video lets you see the sheet music.
I've listened to many versions of this in the last couple of days and played parts of it myself. It's become an obsession.
