From 1967 and recorded for Sgt Pepper. Lyrics were a co-write by John & Paul with most of the music from Paul. On first hearing it's quite a cheery, upbeat & optimistic song, but it has a dark side!!! Some say the positive lyrics came from Paul "It's getting better" and the negative "Can't get no worse" and "I used to be cruel to my woman, I beat her and kept her apart from the things that she loved", from John. Whatever anyone says, we think it's a great song, with some lovely harmonies.
