I remember this song bursting out of radio sets in the spring of 1967; a sort of early herald of the psychedelic summer to come...
A gorgeous slice of baroque pop, just ahead of 'the summer of love'. Originally intended to be included on Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
Because a certain 11 year old is going through yet another Beatles phase, which I heartily encourage… ;)

Almost 40 months ago, I crossed Penny Lane for the first time in my life. Liverpool has given me some of the happiest moments I could possibly imagine, and this song always reminds me of them... Dear Penny Lane, you'll always be in my heart.
