The Only One I Know by The Charlatans
“Jon Brookes, drummer and founding member of The Charlatans, has died aged 44. Brookes had been receiving treatment for a brain tumour since suffering a seizure on tour in Philadelphia in 2010. Though he continued to perform with The Charlatans – he was back on stage a month after his US collapse – he underwent several operations and received radiothearapy and chemotherapy. He suffered a relapse in September 2012 and was operated on as recently as July this year. A spokesperson for the band confirms that Brooks passed away peacefully in hospital early this morning, with his family at his bedside. A statement from the band reads: "Jon was a brilliant drummer, an inspiration, a founding member of The Charlatans, part of our family and a friend to everyone in and around the band. Losing someone who was always so full of life is a tragedy that will be shared by so many. Our thoughts are with Debbie and all of Jon’s family.” http://www.nme.com/news/the-charlatans/71993”

Having finally watched Simon Pegg-Edgar Wright's brilliant 'The World's End', I find myself all nostalgic for 1990, a good year for me personally and a great one for music. This track got my chubby hairy personage shaking its bulbous booty on the dance floor like no other.

The Charlatans created this pumping garage beat sound with just enough polite funk to make it a 90's club classic.

Not sure where the last 25 years of my life went... all I can do is try not to fuck up the next 25.
90s British indie rock at its best
R.I.P. Charlatans drummer Jon Brookes, gone much too young. http://thequietus.com/articles/13077-charlatans-drummer-jon-brookes-dies-aged-44
