Gary Crowley is sort of responsible for my poor education and great taste in music. Through out my secondary school years every very early Tuesday morning or very late Monday night I would be up till about 3.10am so I could watch this amazing programme called the Beat which ITV deemed fit to broadcast at an unreasonable hour, unreasonable for an early teenager going to school in any case. Yes I know I could have set the video and invariably I did but with my excitement of ooh what will I see tonight, I was awake anyway, therefore I was introduced to James (pre sitdown), Transglobal Underground, The Boo Radleys not the Jesus And Mary Chain, no the damage had already been done at that point when someone in about 90,91 thrust a tape of Darklands into my hand. I state until 10 past 3 which I know seems an unusual time but anyone familiar with this allotted time slot will know that afterwards was the wonderfully titled culinary show Get Stuffed which the only cookery show I have seen
