Classic British Psych circa 1969.
December 2007's @MOJOmagazine sees another Led Zeppelin cover feature, though this time the covermount is devoted to "Heavy Nuggets"—British hard rock tunes, at times almost nascent heavy metal—by the likes of Atomic Rooster, The Move, and Procol Harum. I had to really struggle to find a song on the disc that I was fond of; this may be my least favorite covermount yet, which isn't a good sign considering that the good folks at MOJO are, with the May 2014 issue, now on their third volume of Heavy Nuggets! I think the coolest cut on the '07 entry is this one from 1969, a non-LP single from a group that issued only one full-length. I'd almost argue that The Open Mind don't even belong here, as they're more psychedelic than the over-emoting, self-imagined wizard behavior of the other bands, though this song does have a heavy groove.
