I'd always thought this was a Grace Jones original until Christmas, when I heard the ori ginal. Dubtastic.

Grace Jones covered this a couple years later but it was just as dubby on the The Pretenders first album.

Had no idea until I saw the repeat of a 1980 Top of the Pops last night that Grace Jones's iconic 'Private Life' single was originally a track by the Pretenders. So here it is.   2
