Stevie Wonder cover recorded 1969 during the sessions for 'Let It Bleed'. Released on 'Metamorphosis', 1975.
One of my favorite tunes by the Stones, funnily enough it's one that hasn't been penned by Jagger & Richards, indeed it's a Stevie Wonder cover, first published on the 1975 Decca-period outtakes compilation "Metamorphosis", still a favorite to me because it shows the Stones under a peculiar and unusual light, much poppier than the stuff they got famous with. And as legend has it, it's a track that was cut during the first session they did with newly hired Mick Taylor, the very night they got a phone call to tell them Brian Jones had died.
One of my favourite covers.
Some days I prefer the Stevie Wonder original, some days I prefer this. Both brim with soul.
