“I was at a fine wee Xmas party last night. Sitting on a set of stairs to cool down, I got to thinking about bands I would love to have seen at this time of year, tho' sadly never did. SAHB always rise to the top of my list. As the volunteer chauffeur for the evening, new Scottish drink laws, ensured I drank nothing other than bubbly water. This sobriety afforded me the opportunity to check on my return, the Glasgow Apollo gig records from the 1970s, discovering Mr Harvey & cohorts had performed heroically for the festive 75/76 period. Recollections are thin on the ground & sadly, the band had not featured on my playlist at the time. Time has shown me what I missed. So, here's the opener from the DeMontfort gig of '76, which I believe demonstrates the sheer excitement of their performance, even without the visuals. Alex, a showman extraordinaire, would have been 80 this coming year. He was never destined to get there & it is unlikely we shall see his like again. However, this remains...”
