Today, I had the pleasure (albeit a bit belated) to play a couple of Morrissey tracks on the weekly show I co-host. The host, Ben, is a bit of a Mozza fan, so there was plenty to talk about and I think the segment went well. That said, I could've talked about The Smiths all day...and then some. My first gig in September 1985 (Barrowlands, Glasgow). Listening to John Peel sessions on late night radio, or getting a tape from my mate Al of "The Smiths" and "Hatful of Hollow" and thinking to myself - "I don't really know what this is, but fuck me can we have some more?
Morrissey's solo work is full of some really great songs (and the new album is right up there) but I don't think it'll ever capture that same vibe that The Smiths had. They really were something...#TheSmiths #indie #rock
