One of my all time favourites.
Released 10 years ago today, 'A Grand Don't Come For Free' is the second of two excellent albums by Mike Skinner and his project The Streets. Theme: night in the club While waiting for friends, including his girlfriend, the narrator drops some ecstasy to alleviate the boredom. The lights get too bright, music too loud, and he can't get any bars. He can't be sure if they ever showed and he's rightly paranoid they are having an affair. This classic from the UK's "The Streets" is not appreciated much here, but over there it's a touchstone.
Could never get into The Streets when i was younger. Still not much of a fan but i do love this track
