“I remember talking to a student of mine a few months ago about what kind of music she liked and the reply was 'Bruno Mars'. When I checked out a song or two of his on YT (they were not as horrific as I'd imagined, but still pretty lame ) and saw the number of hits (400 million+)...my jaw hit the floor. So, what's the connection with this band that are not that well known? For the last of my Canadian 3-in-a-row, I thought I'd finish it off with The Strumbellas because not only is a really good tune - the video's a great accompaniment to it. What I love about it is that the band, their friends, their kids, someone's parents, the astronaut...all look like they're having a great time and that brought a smile to my face. It's also really cool that this was done in one continuous single-shot. I love the notion that people got around a kitchen table, or in a backyard over a pint or two and came up with such a simple but brilliant idea. More hits please...#TheStrumbellas”
