An Ocean in Between the Waves (Live on KEXP) by The War on Drugs

“This is a nice version of a song I can't stop listening to; it's all about the guitar solos and the motorik, for me. I don't love the sound mix in this KEXP version, but I'll always take a good live band.”

So difficult to pick a single track from this awesome album, but this one does it for me.

Why couldn't they have picked a better band name? I ignored them for so long...

These guys are just so much fun to watch. They're so impossibly dorky, but by the 3 minute mark, they're going for it SO HARD, and the band is so unbelievably tight, that the song just starts levitating. Great performance. Great album, too.

"I'm at the darkened hillside And there's a haze right between the trees And I can barely see you You're like an ocean in between the waves" When I get to thinking on how bored I am with all the synths featured in a lot of the music comin out these days, I remember The War on Drugs, and then synths don't seem so bad. This song is from their new album Lost In The Dream. Quickly becoming a favourite.
