Countdown: De Duizelende Duizend (The Staggering Thousand) Number 696. [from album: A Pagan Place] [year: 1984]   1

This choice comes via a slightly convoluted route. I got a notification that Al Stewart is playing his Past, Present & Future and Year Of The Cat albums in their entirety next year. I used to like Al Stewart a lot, but I went off him completely when I ran into after a gig, said how much I'd enjoyed it and he was insufferably rude in reply. Then I remembered The Waterboys Red Army Blues has a very similar story to Stewart's Roads To Moscow, and is possibly a better song anyway. So here it is in its live glory.
