Earlier this month I jammed John Cage's 4'33" which is silence presented as music. From a pop art standpoint this piece can be seen as a sort of antithesis of that. The two Johns of They Might Be Giants have explained in interviews that the point of this "project" or "arrangement" was to make nothing but choruses and turn that into a song. Nothing but choruses back to back for four minutes. They wanted it to sound kinda like those late night TV commercials for cheap K-Tel compilation albums that would just play parts of a bunch of songs in a row to encourage you to buy their records. It's intended as a satire on modern pop music, but in a weird kinda way has its own unique pop appeal, even tho it never got much air play on radio stations. This song is a crowd favorite at their live performances. Somebody is always invariably screaming for this one. You can find this on their Apollo 18 album, if you still don't believe me that this is an actual song they put on a record.   1
