“"A digital short with primitive cinema looks about guardian angels, UFO's, the lighting of the Belgian motorways and an un-erasable pen friendship."
Uneforschtes Gebiet is one of my favourite Thomas Köner albums as it's different in that it never delves into the intimidating vastness which is often present in his music as in Teimo and Permafrost, and rather it feels like drifting through a void - the album is lengthy, having three twenty minute tracks, the first two of which are incredibly sparse in the best possible way. The third track is a departure from the first forty minutes, and from much of his catalogue in fact, by the inclusion of a one-sided dialogue which wanders over a mysterious and often ethereal path. The departure is accommodated perfectly by the 'bell' or 'gong' tone which resonates throughout - it really pierces you after having passed through forty minutes of bleak desolation. In the right mindset, this album can really get under your skin.”
