“'The Real Ramona' was Throwing Muses' last album before the departure of Tanya Donnelly, but she left them with the giddily brilliant 'Not Too Soon', three minutes of guitar-pop perfection. Donnelly's role in the Muses seems a little like Kim Deal's in the Pixies, in that they were ostensibly second-string songwriters who still managed to write some their respective bands' best songs (both sexy ladies, too!). So I guess you could say this is Throwing Muse's 'Gigantic', a blissed-out pearl among more angular material.”
