Funk. So pretend it's Friday! Actually, no. I'm annoyed that weekdays affect mood. Or more precisely, I'm annoyed that the names of weekdays (of planets/gods, incidentally) affect mood - e.g., Monday denigrating the minutes chancing to elapse then. These Weekdays tint reality. But then, so does Music. Take this musical intro - a Hermes-like camera seeking its subject: our nameless woman, caught mid-argument. Chords wash away her voice. Whatever her history, Funk pinkens it. And with a Beat, she's off! We don't sympathize, we just follow her, like a grooving Greek chorus. Her bad night is our hipster odyssey. She drifts pubwise, finds and kisses the Lotus Eater. Little does she know, every odyssey ends at home. By her return, we're danced out. But she only ever heard her own shoes, only ever heard the sirens blaring, not singing. Funk rests; we hear what she heard, the neutral air, and I change my mind: thank God for pink interior lighting. TGIF.   1
