Tom Robinson at his 60th birthday party
Off the cuff. Walked past a radio at work and instead of the normal pop pap, this was on. Probably an accident

Oops! Yesterday's Scotland/England contretemps, the former playing their trademark 'snatching defeat from the jaws of victory' card, reminded me of my own little footie cameo. I was a pretty decent amateur footballer, if I say so myself. Fast. Brave. Scored a few goals. One Saturday afternoon, I'm having a pretty good game, when disaster...I score a hat-trick. "Has he been at the sherry again?" I hear you ask. 3 goals notched. Disaster. How so? Well, two of them were in the wrong net. Post-match, I was feeling rather wretched, so buggered off on my own, to a small indie record store, to find this little number playing. I bought the single, took it home, lay on my bed and played it to infinity & beyond. My goals faux pas simply drifted into the ether. I don't own a single other piece of Tom's music. However, he's a fascinating, complex guy. I believe this is his musical masterpiece. It is very 80s, but none the worse for that. It's also very topical, but sadly, war always seems to be...
