Djed (UNKLE Bruise Blood Remix) by Tortoise

“Great story behind this one. Six or seven years ago I used to watch a skate video podcast called 64MM – one of their episodes featured this track, unknown to me at the time, and I emailed the episode producer asking what it was. He replied saying that he thought it was an original composition by the segment author. I thought that was the end of the line and didn't take it any further, figuring I'd never get to hear it in its original form! This afternoon I decided at random to listen to some Steve Reich (who I've heard almost nothing of before), and low and behold the first track I played (Come Out) starts with this vocal sample that I recognised. I jumped on WhoSampled, clicked through a few tracks, and there it was – the mystery track after all these years. Amazing. Ordered the vinyl :]”

The awesome Steve Reich-sampling breakbeat fest that is UNKLE's remix of Djed. Brilliant remix album all round
