Are 'Friends' Electric? by Tubeway Army

“Probably my favourite Number One Single. The original is definitely the best - the way he's ruined it live in later years by introducing a "woah woah" chant in it is a bit like Da Vinci throwing spaghetti and pasta sauce all over the Mona Lisa. This is cold, calculated, and bleedin' marvellous.”

Letter T in my #ABCofPunk (and new wave) is for Tubeway Army. Not the first by a long way, but one of the best synth tracks. Gary Numan lives just up the road from me and I've seen him out with wife and children a couple of times.   3

So here we have the first single I ever bought that had a picture sleeve. It wasn't the first single I ever bought (Daddy Cool by Darts) but that got 'lost' a longtime ago. I remember being obsessed with this song when it came out, and being thrilled when it got to Number 1 in the charts. Released in May 1979. This is the original version. If you like it you might want to see a much more recent reworked version here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=22Z4Tv1zn-s #1979 #bedroomvinyl #7

Raising awareness for Autism/Aspergers. Gary Numan has Aspergers, my son is Autistic. See what brilliance they can achieve!!!   4
